The one about a lonely scared dove who had been in a hunters cage all her life. The dove was not happy about her captivity; she wanted to fly. From behind the bars of her cage, she would look up into the sky and see the free birds flying; she would spread her wings as far as the confines of the cage allowed and would dream of flying. Every morning the hunter would come to give her food and water and he would open the door of the cage for some time but he never forgot to secure the latch every time he left. The dove prayed and prayed for a miracle that would end her captivity; one-day god answered her prayers: The hunter forgot to secure the latch. A fierce wind blew that afternoon and the door to the dove's cage swung open. She was overjoyed at the turn of events. She stood at the threshold of her prison and took a leap of faith.... but alas! She didn't know how to fly. She fell to the ground with a thud. But she didn't lose heart and tried over and over again; she fluttered her wings with all her might and managed a small flight. So overjoyed was she at her small victory and so unaware was she of the dangers that lurked in the skies that she did not see the thunderstorm approach her. She was sucked into the whirlpool of cold air, rain and dust. As she was being tossed about by the thunder, she longed for the security of her cage --she longed for safety and peace. She cursed herself for ever wishing to fly and lost her consciousness. After a while the thunder lost its fury. When the dove came to her senses she found herself lying on a bail of hay; she opened her eyes to the most glorious site she had ever seen: the sky was blue and golden; the sun soothed her battered body and warmed her spirit. She struggled to her feet and spread her wings --she was flying-- really flying! Her battle with the thunderstorm had made her wings stronger! She thanked god for the thunder and happily went off in search of food.
